Ceremony for the unveiling of the first Unesco plaque
The plaque will be placed in Piazza Maggiore on the stretch of Palazzo d'Accursio porches
The unveiling ceremony of the first UNESCO plaque is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 at 12:30 p.m., in the presence of Jyoti Hosagrahar, Deputy Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center.
The plaque, symbol of the recognition of World Heritage at the Portici of Bologna, will be placed in Piazza Maggiore on the stretch of porches of Palazzo d'Accursio.
This is the completion of the journey that saw in 2021 the award of the prestigious award to a unique heritage in the world, the most characteristic and fascinating element of the city of Bologna.
The unveiling of the plaque in Piazza Maggiore will be opened by the performance of the boys and girls choir of the Bernstein School of Music Theater in Bologna - which will perform the Portici Anthem - and will close with the monologue by Marinella Manicardi, The Porches with Eyes Closed, an original text composed by the writer and actress for the occasion.
The ceremony will take place at the end of the event at the Salaborsa Library entitled “Global challenges, shared solutions”, which will bring together the UNESCO site managers of some of the most important European cities awarded the World Heritage status.
